FAQ

Straight answers about how therapy here works.

Getting Started

We have two offices, one in Tustin and one in Newport Beach, serving clients throughout Orange County. We also offer online therapy for clients anywhere in California.

Yes. Online sessions happen through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, and you will receive a private link before your appointment. All you need is a private space and an internet connection.

Reach out through our website or give us a call. We will schedule a free consultation to understand what you are looking for and match you with the right clinician on our team.

It is a 20-minute call, at no cost and with no commitment, where you can share a little about what brought you to therapy and ask any questions before booking your first full session.

If it turns out we are the wrong fit, we will tell you, and we will point you toward somewhere better suited.

Sessions

Most sessions run 45 minutes, though some clinicians offer extended sessions for couples, family, or more in-depth work. Your therapist will discuss what is right for your situation.

We work with clients from age ten through adulthood, individually, as couples, and as whole families. Whether you are a teenager, an adult, or part of a couple or family seeking support together, we have someone on our team suited to meet you.

Our clinical work is relational and depth-oriented. Our clinicians draw on attachment-based and psychodynamic therapy, family systems, and CBT, with EMDR available for trauma and trauma-informed care shaping the pace of all of it.

Most of what brings people through the door shows up as a symptom, and the symptom usually grows from something older. We go there with you.

Cost and Structure

Fee questions get answered on your consultation call, where we can talk about your situation directly.

Prepare to Change is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit counseling center, and that structure exists so that serious, depth-oriented therapy stays within reach of families who would otherwise go without it. Cost is the last thing that should keep someone out of care.

Our model does two things in one motion. It puts depth-oriented therapy within reach, and it forms the next generation of clinicians inside an organization whose foundation is simple: you belong, you are human, you have dignity.

Our Team

Our team includes licensed therapists, associate clinicians, and supervised trainees completing their hours toward licensure. Every clinician, at every license stage, is trained and supervised to provide quality, ethical care.

We are happy to share your specific therapist’s credentials once you are matched.

Every pre-licensed clinician carries their caseload under close, ongoing supervision, and their work is examined weekly by someone senior. That structure is our quality commitment, and it means you are getting the attention of more than one clinical mind.

Our clinicians bring different styles, backgrounds, and approaches. Every one of them shares the same commitment: meeting you with dignity.

Both, and everything in between. Some of our clinicians lean conversational, others leave more room for reflection. Part of our first conversation with you is finding the style that actually fits how you process things.

Not at all, and that is intentional. Our team holds a range of perspectives and backgrounds. What we share is a commitment to treating every client, and each other, with respect and dignity.
